Broomfield is a city in Colorado that is just 10 minutes away from Heritage Estates. It is a consolidated city and the smallest county in Colorado in terms of land area. It is the smallest county by area in the whole state, covering only around 34 square miles. As of 2010, around 55,889 people live in the Broomfield, with a median household income of around $75,595. History

After its incorporation in 1961, Broomfield expanded its territories by annexing various communities around it. As a result, the city’s borders became entangled with the neighboring counties of Adams, Jefferson, and Weld, in addition to its home county of Boulder which it already has weakening ties with. In the 90s, proposals were made to create a separate county for Broomfield to avoid dealing with different counties for different public utilities. The proposal was accepted via a change in the State Constitution in 1998 that allowed Broomfield to create its own county. The rule change too effect three years later.
